To Trick or to Treat...

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far, even if it is only the second day into it! Today I just wanted to share what's going on with my house for Halloween!

So last night my sister came over our way and we all ate dinner at my memaw's house, which was yummy! After cleaning up and , she came over to my house to help me decorate for Halloween. I don't really do anything for Halloween unless my sister and I are throwing an October Bash or I'm going to Halloween Horror Nights, but I still love it! I'm not really sure why, but I love scary movies (to an extent, some things I can't tolerate), I love going through haunted houses and I love the decorations. I actually carved my very first pumpkin last year and put it at my Fiance's place (now husband). This year, however, I got to decorate my very own home! We put purpple lights on the front railing of my porch, and took black netting (or whatever you want to call it) and wrapped it around with it! Then we went inside and Halloween'd it up in there as well! Here are a few pics!

My sister made a banner for me to put over my window!

My end table by my couch!

My DVD case! :)

 My entire curio decor!

Thanks Sister for all your help! Can't wait to decorate for Thanksgiving! Let me know how you have decorated for Halloween! :)

Bisters and Listers

So I was sitting at my desk talking to my sister, nothing unusual there. We were talking about her blog post ( I love reading her blog, and it has nothing to do with bias), and I was expressing how I wanted to write on my blog but felt as if I had nothing to write on. Lately my life has consisted of three things: School, Work, and Church. Not much else has happened in between other than going to the gym and reading books I've already read twice over in between classes to cure my boredom. I didn't want to write on that and bore you guys to death. Blogs are supposed to be fun and interesting, and I wasn't feeling as if anything I would write would come off as either of those. I had that wretched Blogger's Block, if you will. So anyways... I'm saying all this and then it is my sister who then tell's me, "You don't have to do things to write about...write about a favorite memory or a favorite picture or something like that"... So instead of doing my Research Paper something I've been working on for the last few hours, I decided to take a break and write about one of my favorite things in the whole wide world.............. my Bister!!

For those of you who don't know Bister stands for "Big Sister" and Lister stands for "Little Sister". My sister (Rachel) and I are five years apart. She's the bratty big sister who thinks she was the perfect child, while I'm the bratty little sister (the baby), who still says  that "I'm the one that didn't do nothin'". After all, it wasn't my fault that I was always in the wrong place at the wrong time with my two older siblings. We weren't always best friends, because we shared a room until she got married at sixteen. But once we didn't have to share a room and bed, we were amazingly close. Even when she moved to Virginia (because my oh so wonderful BIL joined the Navy :p ) we stayed close. I would spend the summer with her, we would talk through IM and on the phone and eventually through our favorite mode of communication at this point in time, texting. I have moments that happen very often where I see something funny and I laugh and think "Dang I wish my sister was here", so then I text her or call her and proceed to tell her about it. Funny thing is, she does exactly the same thing with me! I honestly never thought, when I was a child, that my sister would be my very best friend, yet here we are years later finishing each other's sentences. People actually ask us if we are twins at times. I couldn't count how many times we've been asked!!

The Deets on my BiStEr!

My sister, Rachel, has been married for 12 years now. She's a mother of three (ages 11, 9, and 5), a pastor's wife, a full time employee, a house keeper, animal keeper, party planner, house decorator, hair/makeup fixer-upper, etc. You name it, she can do it. That's not how she see's herself, but that's how I see her. When I look at her I see this beautiful women who  is strong and intelligent, yet vulnerable and doesn't mind being silly (some of the best combinations in my opinion). She's creative and super, duper talented! She's caring and sensitive to other's feelings, but she isn't afriad to tell you what she thinks. She's one of my heroes, though she probably didn't know that.. She's what I've measured myself to, thinking "if only I could be like my sister in this" or if someone asks me to do something that we all know she is better at I reply with "I'm not Rachel, but sure I can do it". Rachel has the ability to read me like a book, no matter what it has to deal with. We have a lot of the same interests, we love the same books, and we both get overly excited when we are talking about a subject that interests us. I can literally go and talk to her about anything, and whether she agrees with me or not, I know she will listen and won't judge me. I don't have to change anything about myself for her and she doesn't for me. She doesn't criticize what I like or put them down or tell me it's stupid. She is, honestly, the best friend that anyone could ever have. We have our moments where we get mad and frustrated with eachother, but it ends pretty quickly, and then it is like it has never happened.

Therefore....

Today I'm dedicating this to two seperate Bister/Lister moments. For some reason we have these occasions (not often, but every now and then), where we get a little camera happy. We take fifty million pictures in a row, mostly retarded one's, and crack up laughing throughout our entire little "photoshoot".

The first one was after our October Bash Party. she was taking me home late from her house and we got a little crazy with the camera in their truck...

It Started with This.....(which was pretty good)

Which led to this...

And then followed with this...

Then turned into this....

Which unfolded into this...

Then somehow changed into this....

And then went into this....

Finishing with this...

I have to confess, that these were not all the pictures. tThere was quite a bit more, but I just picked out some of my favorites from where we started to where we ended.. We literally spent probably 45 minutes or so in the truck just snapping pictures.

Another time this happened was the night of my niece's birthday party/slash slumber party (Rachel's oldest daughter). We decided to have our own little after party once the girls finally went to sleep, and it went like this...

Started with this...

Which turned into this...

Then changed into this....

Which morphed into this....

And then spiraled into this...

Which I think is what caused this.....

And somehow turned into this...

Then it ended in this...

LOL

Once again there was many more pictures we took than this, but these were the funniest that I picked out. Obviously we are a mess when we get together. We call it epiphaland (e-pif-a-land). Somehow we always manage to get lost in our own little world when we are together no matter where we are at, and that is what we dubbed "our own little world".

To my sister Rachel:

Though at times life seems pretty dreary and we are left wondering why we have to go through the things we go through. However, there are always pieces of light that shine through those overcast clouds. Even on my bad days, I hang out with you or just talk to you, and somehow you send a light right to me, making me smile and make me realize that I have things to smile about! I love you so much , sister. You are such an inspiration, even though you have no idea that you are!

*Let me know if you would like to see more "Epiphaland" Moments! :)

It's OK... For Real!

Its Ok Thursdays

Hello again everyone! It's that time once more for It's Ok Thursday! Yay! I don't know about you, but I'm super thrilled its Thursday! That means Tomorrow is Friday and I can sleep in Saturday! I have so many things to look forward to this weekend... Now, onto It's Ok!

It's OK....

...That I'm not having a good hair day, makeup day, or outfit day.

...That my arms are sore from my workout this morning, even though I had an off day and barely worked them out

...That I haven't had much time to do more things so that I could blog about them

...That I'm terrified of my mid-term for my Methods of Sociological Research class

...That I won't be getting to go with one of my good friends to Halloween Horror Night for her birthday

...That I feel totally out of the loop with people I'm the closest with because our lives are just too dang busy

...That I totally want to smack myself as a kid because I thought "growing up" was all the rage. Who knew that things like bills, work, and responsibility came with it.

... That when I go to bed at night I try wiping out all the 90-to-nothing clutter by making up my own fictional story in my head. It's sad that I have to concentrate to go to sleep while my husband falls asleep at the drop of a hat.

Hope all you guys have a blessed Thursday! :)

Oh How Pinteresting! :)

I will be so glad when Winter Break comes along! Because then I may actually get to do my blogging consistently. However, as it stands, I've been too busy to blog on a daily basis. If it isn't getting up detailed grocery shopping lists, I'm studying. If I'm not studying, then I'm taking a break from studying to either talk to my sister or read a book (LOL). But usually I'm studying or working on studying, or preparing something so that I can study. Either way, my little ole two classes that I decided to take this semester is cluttering up my life with Research Papers and Macro notes. Bleh! Oh well, it will be worth it in the end, when I hold my blessed degree in my hand!

End Rant! However, today, I'm taking a moment to link up for the first time with Michelle from The Vintage Apple for "Oh, How Pinteresting"! Needless to say... I'm stoked! I love pinterest! Since I'm craving fall I decided to dedicate my first OHP to anything and everything Fall!

This is a recipe I found for homemade applesauce made in a crockpot! I soo will try this when Florida decides to cooperate and send me some cooler weather! :)

I thought these were the cutest! I want to make these with my nieces and nephews! They would love it!

I love this idea! I thought it was the neatest idea, and something I could so do!!

Love her outfit! #Scarves&Sweaters

Speaking of Hoodies! I love this one! :D

And with hoodies you definitely need bomb fires! Then add in marshmallows and I'm in heaven! ;)

Its OK Thursday!

Its Ok Thursdays

So I know I've been MIA from my blog lately, but that's because it has been one of those weeks where I literally had no time for anything other than school work, church related things, and then I was in the bed sick. So I have good reason! However, I am back in action! I wouldn't say I'm a hundred percent yet, but I'm getting there, thank God! And just in time for Its OK Thursday! Here it goes! :)

It's OK....

That I totally broke down once this week... okay three times, but its still OK

That I have no clue how I feel I did on my Macro test... it could go either way

That I literally crammed for said Macro test an hour and a half before I had to take it

That I sometimes make the biggest idiot out of myself and have to pry my foot from where it is lodged down my throat

That there are times I still feel awkward around people I've known for forever

That I'm having a hard time with a certain person who is only hurting a person I care about

That there are things I've said that I wish I could take back

That I have those moments in life where I dread getting up in the morning and facing the day

Hope all you guys have a blessed Thursday! :)

Feel Good Pills! ;)

So, although it's Friday, I've been having a crummy day. It's one of those days where if I had a rock to climb under, I'd so do it and stay there until it all got better. However, I, unfortunately, do not have that choice. I have to have money to live and bills to pay, so I can't leave work and find said rock nor will my problems disappear. The fact that I'm having to work on study guides and research paper crapola, isn't making me feel any better. Therefore, I've decided to nip the schoolwork in the bud for a moment, and post some random things I've been loving and some things I found that make me smile!!!

First thing I've been loving... is my Naked 1 Palette! I know that in general the hype about this palette is over, especially given the second version is out. However, I don't have the second and this one has come so in handy since I've started going to the gym in the mornings to work out. I throw this in my makeup bag and I have all the eyeshadows I need! My favorite combonation has been: Sin and Virgin all over the lid with Naked and Buck in the crease! Then I take hustle and put in on the lower lashline! And Voila!

I found this Pumpkin cake on Pinterest and totally fell in love with it! I love everything fall, and the fact that tomorrow is the very first day has me praying for cooler weather and dying to go shopping for Fall decor for my house. As soon as I seen this cake I text my Memaw and told her I found something we need to bake. She loves to bake things, and I enjoy it when I have the time. So I thought this would be a great idea to eat of course, but to spend some quality time together as well!!

I found this on pinterest as well and thought it was so stinking cute. My sister started this owl fetish that has infected me! Anything owl, and we are dying to get it! As soon as I seen it I thought of her and it made me smile! :)
(My sister, Rachel just got a blog... check her out!! http://cupcakesandhorseshoes.blogspot.com/)

Another "pintresting" idea! I found this on pintrest in the early July days and thought, "what the hey! I'll give it a try". I mean it couldn't actually hurt, giving its only three ingredients; witchhazel (very small amount), lemon juice, and water. Sooo.... I gave it a try and I LOVED it! My cheeks had patchy red marks from acne scarring that I felt like wouldn't fade even a little bit. I was also breaking out with pimples daily. It was ridiculous! Now i'm not telling you that I'm no longer breaking out or have acne scarring. I still have both. However, I believe that I finally found a skinecare routine, and with a big help from this Brightening toner, that it helped fade those acne scars and also helps me not to break out as often as I was. Some days, if I don't have a lot of time in the morning, I'll just rince my face, swipe this on with a cotton ball, then moisturize and be on my way! (I found it works better for me if I leave it in the fridge where it stays cool!)

Last, but definitely not least, Is the homemade scrub/exfoliator that I make for my face! Honey and Sugar (or brown sugar). Honestly, I quit buying exfoliators and just started using this. I never found a store-bought exfoliator that worked well on my skin or exfoliated like I wanted to. I seen a recipe for this one day on the internet, tried it, and totally fell in love. It is the best exfoliator minus all the extra chemicals and additives. It seriously makes your skin fell amazing. I have some serious oily/combination skin (i'm oily all over, but get dry around my nose and somtimes my mouth), and it works great on my skin. It makes my face feel so soft! I usually use this right after I take my makeup off with a makeup wipe and then I'll go in with my cleanser (Cetaphil), with my olay pro X. I exfoliate with this 1-2 times a week. Then, about once every few weeks, I'll kick it up a notch and add in just a tiny pit of extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice!! It's amazing stuff and you know what you are putting on your face!

Well that's it for now! I already feel better talking about these things! Hope you guys have a great weekend!!!!
